Pantographs start at $.0075 per square inch for a level "A"
design. These are simpler designs that do not require a lot
of time to complete.
Level "B" designs are $.01/sq. in. These designs are more
complex than a level "A", but not as involved as a level "C".
Level "C" designs are $.02/sq. in. These designs are the
most complex, taking a considerable amount of time to
complete.
Please see the patterns page for available pantos. If you
have a particular pantograph pattern in mind and I don't
offer it - please let me know, I'll see if I can get it. Also, I
add new pantos regularly and my web page may not be
completely up-to-date.
If you would like a special border treatment with a panto, I
will charge $10.00 per border (top, bottom and sides count
as one border). For more than 2 separate borders, the
quilt will be charged at the .03 custom rate.
Custom quilting prices start at .015/sq.in. for med/large
meander and simple free-hand designs.
.03 for simple ruler work, stencils, light background fill,
small meandering.
.04 for complex designs, extensive stitch-in-the-ditch,
heavy quilting, dense background fill, cross-hatching.
Quilting Prices
Batting prices
Listed below are the batts that I have on-hand. I am more than
happy to get other types such as wool, silk, poly-down, etc that
you may like. Just let me know what you're looking for. You are
more than welcome to send your own batting if you'd like
(Mountain Mist does not hold up well on the longarm
machines). I use the batting in the most efficient way possible. If
the quilt is 98x108 and the batting is 120" wide, I will charge for
102" not 112" of batting. On the other hand, if the batting is only
96" wide, I will need to charge for 112" of batting. The extra
length is for the machine, sometimes when quilting, the batting
(and the backing for that matter) will "shrink" due to stitches
taking some of it up. It's better to have a little extra than to come
up short at the end of the quilt.
Legacy 80% cotton/20% polyester
96" Wide - .25/linear inch
Hobbs 80% cotton/20% polyester - black
108" Wide - .27/linear inch
Hobbs 100% Cotton
96" Wide - .27/linear inch
Hobbs poly 6 oz.
96" Wide - .14/linear inch
I also use a lot of Warm & Natural cotton, Warm & Bright Poly,
and all of the Quilter's Dream lines. I don't stock these batts, but
am more than happy to purchase them to use in your quilt.
Backing
At the present time, I have only natural-colored or white,
100% cotton muslin available to use for backing at $5.00
per yard. You are welcome to send your own backing
fabric. I will also purchase fabric for you and charge you
only what it cost me to purchase it.
Please make the batting and backing at least 4" larger
than the quilt top on all four sides if you supply either or
both.
Other Services
Binding
You supply the prepared binding.
- machine sewn to front - you turn to back - .05/linear inch
- machine sewn to front, hand sewn on back - .30 / linear
inch (my mom provides this service - she does have pets
in her house, just so you know)
- machine sewn to front and top stitched to the back - .15 /
linear inch
I prepare the binding:
Add .05 / linear inch to above prices and you supply one
yard of fabric.
Please be aware that my bindings are presentable but not
show-quality.
Basting
I can baste your quilt sandwich together every 6 inches (or
whatever you prefer) to prepare it for hand quilting for .50/sq. ft.
Prepare backing
I can prepare the backing for $5.00 per seam. This includes
piecing, squaring, and pressing.
Misc.
Any other preparations needed to begin quilting will be
charged at $10.00 per hour. Examples include: squaring up the
top, pressing seams flat, fixing open seams, etc. If tops are not
pressed or square, I cannot guarantee that there will be no
puckers in the quilting.
A Michigan 6% sales tax will be added to the final total of all
thread, batting, and fabric for MI residents only.
All prices are effective as of Aug. 26, 2009 and are subject to
change at any time without notice.
Thread prices
I charge a flat fee of $3.00 for solid color threads and
$7.00 for variegated colors. I have just about every solid
color and a number of variegated colors (if I don't have it I
will get it). I use many different threads, cotton, poly,
bottom line, so fine!, etc. You are welcome to send along
your own thread, but please don't send any Coats and
Clark (including the machine quilting thread), it just isn't
strong enough (believe me, I've tried!).
Keep in mind that if different colors are chosen for the top
and back, there will most likely be "pokies".
